Professional Diploma in Cardiac Catherization for Nursing

Course Description:

This course is designed to expand participants’ knowledge and skills required to provide care for patients in the Cardiac Cath. Lab. The theoretical part includes standard of care, nurses’ roles and responsibilities, and scope of nursing practice in the Cath. Lab. The practical aspect will train participants on the skills required to provide standardized high quality care for patients undergoing cardiac interventional procedures based on current guidelines and evidence-based procedures.

Number of contact hours:

The total theoretical and practicum hours are 450 hours, extended over a nine month period.

  • Theory: 100 hours (8 hours per week, 32 hours per month) for 3.3 months.
  • Clinical: 350 hours; 44 shifts (8 hours per week, 32 hours per month) for 9 months.
